Strada del Vino Valpolicella
HEART AND VINEYARDS BETWEEN VERONA AND LAKE GARDA
In the hilly landscape north of Verona, where nature blends with history and wine becomes culture, there is a fascinating itinerary that tells the story of one of Italy's most renowned wine regions: the Valpolicella Wine Route.
A route that crosses picturesque territories, ancient villages and hills covered with neat rows of vines, where some of the world's most appreciated wines are produced, such as Valpolicella Classico, Amarone, Ripasso and Recioto.
The Valpolicella Wine Route is not just a geographical route: it is a mosaic of cultures, flavours and landscapes. It covers 19 municipalities: Cazzano di Tramigna, Cerro, Colognola ai Colli, Dolcè, Fumane, Grezzana, Illasi, Lavagno, Marano di Valpolicella, Mezzane, Montecchia di Crosara, Negrar, Pescantina, San Martino Buon Albergo, San Mauro di Saline, San Pietro in Cariano, Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella, Tregnago and Verona
Here, the vines are cultivated with artisanal care, often on centuries-old terraces carved out of stone, and vinified according to practices handed down and refined over time. The result is wines that speak of the land, the climate and the hand of the man who created them.
Along the Valpolicella Wine Route, visitors can enjoy authentic experiences that combine art, taste and landscape. You can visit ancient cellars, taste wines in places where time seems to have stood still, admire Venetian villas nestled among the vineyards, or lose yourself in the medieval villages that dot the valleys.
Numerous wineries open their doors to visitors for guided tastings, sensory experiences, tours of the vineyards and meetings with producers, true ambassadors of the local wine culture.
The Valpolicella Wine Route is also about cuisine, tradition and hospitality. Restaurants, farmhouses, taverns and inns offer Veronese dishes paired with the great red wines of the area: Amarone risottos, braised meats, typical cured meats, mature cheeses and rustic desserts.
The landscape, with its rolling hills, dry stone walls, cypresses and olive trees, offers glimpses of rare beauty, ideal for exploring on foot, by bike or by car, following the slow rhythms of sustainable tourism.
Valpolicella is located a few kilometres from Verona and Lake Garda, in a strategic position that is easily accessible:
- By car, via the A22 motorway (Verona Nord exit) or A4 motorway (Verona Est exit).
- By train or plane, thanks to its proximity to the railway station and Verona Villafranca airport.
It is the perfect destination for a day trip, a weekend of relaxation and good food, or a real journey into the heart of Italian wine.
