Strada del Vino Soave

A JOURNEY THROUGH VINEYARDS, VILLAGES AND SIGNATURE FLAVOURS

In the heart of the province of Verona, where rolling hills meet history and vines dominate the landscape, lies a charming and authentic itinerary: the Soave Wine Route. A route that showcases one of Italy's most beloved white wines – Soave DOC – and a territory that has intertwined agriculture, culture and tradition for centuries.

Soave is an elegant, fresh, mineral white wine, produced mainly from Garganega grapes grown on volcanic soils that give the wine character and longevity. It is a historic appellation – one of the first DOCs recognised in Italy in 1968 – and includes several types: from Soave Classico to Soave Superiore DOCG, to more modern versions such as Soave Spumante.

The Soave Wine Route was established in 1999 and has always been active in coordinating the numerous members who are part of an ideal route of about 50 km that includes 13 municipalities, including Soave, Monteforte d'Alpone, San Bonifacio and Colognola ai Colli.

The ideal starting point for the journey is Soave, one of Italy's most beautiful walled villages, dominated by the imposing Scaligero Castle. Strolling through its cobbled streets is like travelling back in time, among wine shops, artisan workshops, historic cellars and restaurants where wine is paired with Veronese cuisine.

From here, the route winds through vine-covered hills, ancient districts and scenic trails, touching on charming places such as Fittà, Brognoligo, Costalunga and the slopes of Monte Calvarina.

Travelling along the Soave Wine Route means encountering the authentic face of Venetian viticulture, made up of small family-run businesses, genuine hospitality and a strong connection to the land. The wineries along the route open their doors to visitors for tastings, vineyard tours, sensory experiences, workshops and themed walks.

The Soave Wine Route is located a few kilometres from Verona and is easily accessible:

  • By car, via the A4 motorway (Soave-San Bonifacio exit).
  • By train, via San Bonifacio station.
  • By bicycle or on foot, thanks to a network of paths through the vineyards, perfect for slow and sustainable tourism.
