Among the orderly countryside and towns rich in history of the Marca Trevigiana, there is an itinerary that combines nature, rural culture and refined taste: the Radicchio Rosso di Treviso and Variegato di Castelfranco Route. Not just a simple tourist route, but a real experiential journey through horticultural excellence, agricultural landscapes and centuries-old traditions.

The undisputed stars are two treasures of the Veneto region, both recognised as PGI (Protected Geographical Indication):

  • Radicchio Rosso di Treviso, elegant, crunchy and with a strong flavour.
  • Radicchio Variegato di Castelfranco, known for its rose shape and more delicate and aromatic flavour.

The Radicchio Route passes through more than 20 municipalities in the provinces of Treviso, Padua and Venice, embracing an area that has preserved the art of growing and processing radicchio, the vegetable that symbolises winter in the Veneto region, for centuries.

The route winds through the typical production areas, where you can visit farms, farmers' markets, educational gardens and museums of rural civilisation, meeting producers and discovering the traditional forcing and blanching techniques that make Radicchio di Treviso Tardivo unique.

The Road is not just a culinary itinerary: it is also a cultural and identity narrative, intertwining rural architecture, Venetian villas, country churches, ancient mills and canals. Visiting this area means immersing yourself in a living agricultural culture, where the seasons still mark the daily rhythms and hospitality is authentic and genuine.

Those who travel along the Radicchio Route can savour the thousand gastronomic variations of this extraordinary vegetable: from risottos and fresh pasta to baked, grilled or sweet and sour radicchio, to gourmet dishes by chefs who reinterpret it in a modern key.

Restaurants, farmhouses and local trattorias offer seasonal menus where radicchio takes centre stage, paired with local wines such as Prosecco, Raboso or Pinot Grigio.

The Strada area is well connected and easily accessible:

  • By car, via the main motorways A27 (Venice-Belluno) and A4 (Turin-Trieste).
  • By train, thanks to its proximity to the stations of Treviso, Castelfranco Veneto and Mestre.

It is also ideal for slow tourism and cycle tourism, thanks to the numerous rural paths and secondary roads surrounded by nature.

The Radicchio Rosso di Treviso and Variegato di Castelfranco Route is an invitation to discover an authentic corner of Veneto, where the land meets excellence, rural culture is transformed into art and taste becomes identity.

It is an experience to be enjoyed with all the senses: the scent of the countryside in winter, the bright colours of freshly harvested radicchio, the warmth of a typical dish shared with others, the voices of those who work the land with passion.

A journey that leaves its mark, just like the unmistakable flavour of its protagonist.
